Beckie is 15 and lives in Leeds with her parents and her older sister. She became pregnant at 13 and had a daughter, Courtney. A year later, Beckie was diagnosed with cancer. The treatment was ineffective and the cancer spread to her vital organs. Now Beckie has just weeks to live. She and her sister Vicky set out to make a film for her daughter, Courtney, so that she will know her mother in years to come.
With extraordinary access and the full cooperation of Beckie and her family, this moving and heart-rending film follows the two sisters on their emotional rollercoaster of a journey. This is Beckie's film ... for Courtney, with love. (Beckie died just two weeks after her 16th birthday; this film has been extensively used by councillors and other medical professionals who work with teenage cancer patients on a daily basis.)
Winner, RTS Education Documentary Award 2005
Nomination, RTS Editing Factual Award 2005
“ONE Life has tackled many medical stories … What we really need to think about is the methodology and approach - what's the story within the well worn subject area that's not been told before or is relevant now? Think of films like 'To Courtney, With Love' …”
